Greetings!!!

From the Desk of the President

I would like welcome you to CVHRMA and I am excited to serve as President for the next two years. I am also thrilled to begin work with our new Board Members: Elsie Alegre, Karlene Boyt, Cindy Gipp, and Crystal Gutierrez. On behalf of the 2011 Board of Directors, we are committed to providing members with the information needed to make good business decisions to manage the changing world of Human Resources.

Even though our board was short-staffed and had to wear several hats, 2010 was another successful year for CVHRMA.  We continued to increase our membership, serviced our community through several workforce readiness projects, implemented a mentor program by teaming seasoned HR professions with HR students or new HR professionals, and provided quality programming and networking opportunities for our members.  Thank you 2010 Board of Directors for all your efforts.

The 2011 programs will target a wide range of topics regarding all aspects of employment.  Additionally, legislative updates on federal and state levels will be given on a regular basis.  We are also exited that our Past President, Kristen Goucher, SPHR will be serving as Certification Chair this year.  Her responsibilities will include establishing educational study session for individuals seeking certification and obtain HRCI credit approval for programming events.   Please contact me or any of the Board members if you have programming topic suggestions or would like to serve as a volunteer. We welcome your participation.

Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, at the Sportsman of Stanislaus Club at 819 Sunset Blvd. in Modesto.  The cost for the luncheon is $18.00 for CVHRMA members that do not RSVP prior to the deadline, $25.00 for Non-members and inactive members, and  $12.00 for students.

If you are not currently a member of our association, we would love the opportunity to become your local chapter!  I encourage you to attend one of our monthly meetings to see what we are all about.  Please use the About Us tab for more information.

As 2011 CVHRMA Chapter President, in conjunction with the Board of Directors, I look forward to serving our members and community to make CVHRMA your most valuable resource for expertise.

Glenda M. Tobia, SPHR
